Excel Marine

The Excel Marine is a system specifically designed by Sun-Mar for use in boats & motor-homes. It has all the features of a standard Excel plus a few additional ones to make it seaworthy or roadworthy. The Excel Marine can handle up to 4 people in full time use or up to 8 people on a part-time basis. The Excel Marine has a unique three chamber processing system including the patented Bio-drum. It is a stand alone single unit composting toilet with a high gloss white fibreglass casing. The drum ensures optimum composting by providing the best composting conditions. The waste falls into the Bio-drum where it is mixed and composts for approximately 2 months. After this time some of the material is released into the finishing tray where it sits for a further month sealed from any fresh material to complete the composting process.

Like the standard Excel, the Excel Marine comes with a 240 Volt heater to improve the composting conditions. It also includes a 12 Volt fan and heater for use when there is no 240 volt power available. A 12 Volt fan with a filter is also included to remove odours via a 3” vent pipe. The fan filter consists of activated carbon and zeolite materials which scrub the air of fresh ammonia odours ensuring odour-free operation at deck or roof level. The Excel Marine vent pipe comes out of the top of the system which allows the toilet to sit flush against the wall of the toilet room thus conserving space. Along with speeding up the composting process and removing odours, the fan and 240 Volt heater act to evaporate all of the liquid waste produced. However, when at sea or on the road (away from 240 Volt power), it may be necessary to connect the system to a small container or grey water tank to collect any liquid waste that fails to evaporate.

Due to possible violent motion, the finishing drawer of the Excel Marine has been gasketed to ensure that no liquid can escape from the evaporating chamber. The air intakes have also been located higher up and ducted down to the evaporating chamber. Strong mounting brackets have also been fixed to the system to ensure that the toilet is firmly fixed to the floor and won’t tip over in rough conditions. A drum lock keeps the composting drum upright under all conditions.

A smaller version of the Excel Marine, the Mobile, is also available. It operates on 12 Volt only. The capacity is 1-2 on a permanent basis and 3-4 people for weekend and vacation use.

The Compact S-M has not been submitted for state government approval. The Compact S-M does however meet the requirements of Australian Standards 1546.2 which allows its installation by local government in Queensland.

Compact N-L

The self contained Compact N-L was designed to provide toilet facilities at minimum cost in low volume situations. It is in high demand for weekenders, outdoor work situations and with people needing toilet facilities in temporary accommodation whilst building their home. It is worth noting that the Compact N-L can be converted into the Weekender by purchasing some of the Weekender components. The Compact N-L is not approved for permanent use.

Unlike conventional composting toilets it sits on the toilet room floor and requires no space beneath the floor. The Compact N-L range comes complete with everything required for installation, except for reasons of freight cost, the external vent pipe and absorption trench materials, which can be obtained from your hardware shop for about $80.

Excelet NE

The newest addition to our range of toilets is the self-contained Excelet NE. Like the Compact N-L, the Excelet NE was designed to provide toilet facilities for low volume situations at a low price. However, its attractive appearance puts it a cut above the Compact N-L, whilst its simplicity of design ensures that its cost remains lower than that of the Excel range.

Unlike most composting toilets, the Excelet NE sits on the toilet room floor and requires no space beneath it. As such, it suits potential buyers who are unable to install a composting chamber beneath their bathroom floor due to their home being built on a concrete slab.

The appearance of the Excelet NE is similar to that of the Excel NE, however, the fundamental differences are that the vent pipe is not visible in the bathroom as it exits from the rear of the toilet and the seat height is much lower than in the Excel NE at only 10cms higher than a normal flushing toilet.

The technology used in the Excelet NE is the same as that used in the Classic range, however it is currently approved in QLD only, and, unlike the Classic range, is not accredited to Australian Standards 1546.2.

The Excelet NE comes complete with everything required for installation except, for reasons of freight cost, the external vent pipe and absorption trench materials, which can be obtained from a hardware shop for about $80.

Classic 650

The split system Classic 650 is designed to provide a little more comfort to the Compact N-L where the installation of a split system is possible. The addition of a pedestal distances the user from the chamber and enhances the look of the bathroom. The Nature Loo Classic 650 comes with all the Compact N-L components plus a pedestal, seat and chute. Normally the height requirement beneath the floor is 70 cm but with most installations this could be reduced to 55 cm.

Sun-Mar Excel

Some potential buyers of waterless toilets are unable to buy a split system because their home is built on a concrete slab with no opportunity to install a composting chamber beneath the bathroom floor. For this type of installation we supply Sun-Mar self contained toilets. Sun-Mar is a Canadian manufacturer and one of the largest producers of composting toilets in the world. They have been producing waterless toilets for 30 years. Nature Loo is the exclusive Australian importer.

The Excel is certified as complying with Australian Standards 1546.2 and is approved in all states. The Excel has a unique three chamber processing system including the patented Bio-drum. The exterior is made of fibreglass. The attractive high gloss white finish ensures it fits in well with other bathroom fittings and, unlike with competing products where the vent pipe exits the top of the unit inside the bathroom, the Excel vent is unseen. It exits from the rear of the unit.

The standard Excel has a single electrical plug for the heater and fan. If you would prefer to have the option to use the fan alone without heater (during low occupancy or hot weather) there is the two plug version, the Excel DP.

Sun-Mar Excel

The Excel is superior to other self-contained toilets bec ause it uses a rotating drum to mix and aerate, rather than just a mixing bar or rake. The drum ensures optimum processing by providing the best composting conditions:

• Even moisture distribution
• Thorough mixing
• Complete aeration

To accommodate the drum, the toilet is taller than a conventional toilet. An optional step is supplied. To reduce the apparent height of the toilet it can be installed in a 20mm cavity. There is a heater which further enhances the composting process and evaporates liquids. The 240 volt ventilation system ensures the system is odourless.

The Excel NE is a low cost version of the Excel. It has no heater and no fan. There is a 12 volt fan option, but bec ause of the efficiency of the process, this is normally unnecessary. The Excel NE is very popular in solar powered homes. The vent pipe exits from the top of the unit.

Centrex 2000

The Centrex 2000 is a split system one pint (half litre) flush composting toilet which can be installed such that the composting unit is not directly beneath the pedestal. An ultra low flush pedestal is supplied which is connected to the composting unit by a 3 inch (75 mm) pipe. The Centrex 2000 allows the installation of a split system toilet where there is only 1000 mm between the bathroom floor and the ground. In this case the composting unit would normally be located beside the house within 5 m of the pedestal.. If the ground slopes away from the house to where the composting unit is to be located it may be possible to install a Centrex 2000 where the bathroom floor is on the slab.

The horizontally mounted composting drum provides optimum composting conditions with its tumbling action to aerate and mix the contents. The heater is ideal for colder climates and accelerates the composting process. Most, if not all, the liquid will evaporate, but a liquid drain outlet is provided for run off into a bath sized gravel pit. The final processing is completed in the finishing tray isolated from any fresh material. The finished earth like composted humus is odourless. It is removed only a few times a year and is normally used for soil enrichment. The Centrex 2000 is suitable for homes of up to and including five people. For larger homes there is the Centrex 3000.

The Centrex meets the requirements of the Queensland EPA, but is yet to be submitted for approval in other states. We expect approval in other states by 1/1/07.

The Centrex is ideal for people who prefer the look of a conventional pedestal and who feel the need to flush after using the toilet. More than one pedestal can be connected to one composting unit

Centrex 2000 A/F

The Centrex 2000 A/F is a split system waterless toilet which combines an attractive fibreglass pedestal with the advanced technology composting unit of the Excel’s patented Bio-drum. You get the look and feel of the warm white fibreglass pedestal and timber seat in your bathroom and the ultimate composting unit under the floor.

As all gardeners will testify, there is no better way to compost than to tumble the compost pile. The tumbling process creates ideal composting conditions by ensuring that adequate air and moisture reach all parts of the pile as well as ensuring the even distribution of the added bulking agents to create the necessary ratio of carbon to nitrogen in the nitrogen rich pile.

With the Centrex there is no raking, shoveling or moving of chambers. You will only have to remove a small tray some 3-4 times per year. The contents of the full tray are dry, soil like and odourless. The full tray weighs less than 10 kgs.

Centrex 2000 A/F

The minimum height required to install the Centex 2000 A/F NE beneath the bathroom floor is 1000 mm..

The Centrex 2000 A/F meets the requirements of the Queensland EPA. Approval in other states is expected by 1/1/07.

Classic 750

The Classic 750 is the standard batch system toilet for domestic installations. Since its development in 1992 thousands have been sold all over Australia. Its strengths are its small underfloor space requirements, simplicity, minimum maintenance and unlimited capacity with the purchase of additional chambers. Most importantly, it is the lowest priced family composting toilet in Australia.The Classic 750 (previously sold as the Ensuite) is approved in QLD, NSW, WA, NT and SA and is Australian Standards 1546.2 certified.

The Classic range is complete with everything required for installation, including pedestal and seat, except, for reasons of freight cost, the external vent pipe and absorption trench materials, which can be bought from your local hardware store for about $80. Theminimum height required to install the chamber beneath the bathroom floor is 750 mm.
